The Hobie Outback is where paddling meets pedaling. Our, single passenger Hobie Mirage Outback is kayak fishing, improved. Bringing speed and fun to a river or lake near you. The Hobie Mirage Outback was designed for hands-free fishing, hunting, photography and other on-the-water activities. The "SUV" version of the Hobie Mirage, the Outback comes with molded-in rod holders, hatches and storage compartments for a dive tank, cooler or bait tank. An optional fishing package includes a tackle box, cooler and anchor system. We have found the Hobie Outback to be the best sailing version in Hobie's one-person fleet. Since most people are right handed Hobie put the rudder control on the left side of the Outback so that you can be moving towards a school of fish and casting at the same time.
The whole Hobie fleet of peddling boats is a blast for the whole family. You don’t have to be just a fisherman to enjoy the Outback. If you just want to go out and exercise on the water it is a great lower body workout. If you want to teach the kids the basics of sailing the Hobie Outback can help, because the fins act as a centerboard it is one of the few kayaks that can easily tack against the wind. If you loose the wind you just simply peddle your way back to it. When you move into shallow water to stalk a red fish you simply lock the Hobie Mirage Outback fins under the boat and use your paddle. I donÂ’t know if there will ever be a perfect kayak for fishing, but right now the Hobie Outback is it.
