The Mountain Hardwear Solitude Backpack is a pack that moves with you without a counter reaction. The Solitude Pack is built on the Exodus Crusider frame. The Cruiser frame is designed for traditional backpacking & trail oriented use and provides excellent back support for heavier loads. Many traditional backpacks are constructed with pre-formed shoulder straps and waist belts designed only to fit a generic body type. The Exodus Fit-Lock harness of the Solitude adjusts to accommodate a wide range of bodies. Both the Fit-Lock shoulder yoke and waist belt of the Solitude Backpack can be custom-contoured to a user’s anatomy. Once adjusted, the shoulder yoke and waist belt lock and become integrated structural components which, because of the fit, distribute the load evenly over a large surface area. This eliminates pain-inducing pressure points and makes for a more comfortable carry. The custom adjustments lock in place, so there's no need to continually re-adjust the pack. Moreover, even when locked, the Solitude's Fit-Lock harness retains the ability to change torso length, letting you optimize pack geometry on the fly for climbing, descending or level travel.
But while the Mountain Hardwear Solitude Backpack has an excellent frame, a great frame can be useless without an excellent body on it. Fortunately, the Solitude has you covered. At over 4800 cubic inches, the Solitude gives you all the room you need to carry your gear. The Kit Bag top pocket is removable, and easily converts to a shoulder bag. The Solitude's fold top is designed to be used with this pocket removed. The large front pocket on the Solitude features water resistant zippers to keep your gear dry. A lower sleeping bag compartment is easily accessed by zipper, and has a removable internal divider for when you don't need it and want some extra room in your pack.
The Mountain Hardwear Solitude Backpack also offers you options for when you want to quench your thirst. Mesh side pockets plus lower wand pockets allow you to carry water bottles. Or, you can put a hydration bladder into the hydration sleeve and feed the tube through the right or left side hose ports depending on your preference. There's even dual Axe-S quick release ice axe toggles. And the three dimensional compression system of the Solitude Backpack tunes vertical and horizontal loads, making your carry more comfortable.
For hauling heavy loads or trekking down your favorite trail, you won't find much better than the Mountain Hardwear Solitude Backpack.
