The shoulders, elbows, and entire backside of the arms receive a protective nylon Supplex taslan overlay. The inner taffeta lining is doubled in the front to deflect the chill of a gale. The hem drawcord can be operated with one hand, snugging the fit at your waist and keeping snow out. Hand pockets are fleece-lined to warm your hands in the cold temperatures. An inner mesh water bottle pocket allows you to take your favorite beverage with you out into the cold. When you only need the protection of the jacket, and not the hood, simply detach it.
