The Montrail CTC Mid XCR is a technical approach shoe with a trail shoe's tenacity in mud, snow, and dirt, and a climbing shoe's friction and durability. The narrower toebox provides better control, and the heel is snug to prevent slippage. A Gore-Tex lining provides waterproofness. The Tough HF reinforced mesh provides breathability. The sole of the CTC Mid is a combination of Gryptonites GT and GS. GT provides great friction on a variety of trail conditions while being hard enough for high milage, while GS is non-marking like GT, but emphasizes friction over hardness.
