The Petzl Pirana is the Descender that was designed for use with canyoning descent techniques. The Pirana provides three different braking positions to choose from before beginning descent depending on the user's weight, the rope's diameter and the terrain. Two supplementary braking spurs allow friction to be increased during descent. The Pirana was designed to be used with the "Rapid" technique, which prevents the formation of a lark's head knot around the body of the PIRANA and reduces kinks in the rope, without decreasing braking friction.
