The upper construction of the helmet is made of nearly indestructible injected-molded ABS, while the bottom consists of a tough yet light polycarbonate shell and EPS foam liner. This hybrid construction allowed Smith to include new ventilation features on the Variant. The Low-Profile Regulator allows you to adjust the amount of venting you want by adjusting a vent slider from completely open to half open to completely closed. Also, the AirEvac 2 allows for the moist air around your goggles and on the top of your head to escape. Both of these new improvements make Smith's Variant Twin Tip Audio Helmet more comfortable by allowing you to adjust the ventilation based on the conditions on the slope.
