As its name suggests, the Women’s Outdoor Research
Uberlayer Hooded Jacket offers excellent versatility that lets its take the place of any number of separate layers. A quick-drying synthetic insulation keeps you warm when temperatures dip low but sheds heat when the mercury rises. Perfect for aerobic climbs and ski tours, this stylish backcountry chameleon provides the warmth of a synthetic puffy one moment and the breathability and quick-dry performance of a fleece the next, all without forcing you to add, remove or adjust your layers. There is no single magic ingredient. It’s the full recipe at work: Polartec Alpha, an insulation with thousands of tiny perforations that allow body heat to escape, is sandwiched between a wicking polyester liner and tough-but-supple nylon shell. The Uberlayer Hooded Jacket is an ideal outer layer when you’re grinding hard uphill in deep cold, and it makes a low-bulk midlayer under a shell. The hood fits over a climbing helmet, but also adjusts snugly over a beanie. Five pockets (two interior) store winter must-haves. A sturdy, two-way zipper let you vent from top or bottom and access a climbing harness. Outdoor Research also gave the Uberlayer Hooded Jacket clean cuffs (they have Lycra inserts to block wind) which play nicely with other layers and gloves. Put this insulated jacket on in the morning and wear it all day long... the Women’s Outdoor Research Uberlayer Hooded Jacket is ready.
